It may seem like an unusual thing to raise funds with, but the truth is that everyone uses wrapping paper, and if you timed your event to finish in the weeks prior to Christmas or Mother’s Day, you may be surprised at how successful it is.
A gift-wrap or wrapping paper fundraiser is simply a matter of selling wrapping paper and collecting a share of the profits. There are a number of companies in Australia who will organise a wrapping paper fundraiser for your school, or you could source your own supplies from a wholesale company such as Barama and go it alone.
Fox Fundraising offer a range of items including short and bulk 60m rolls as well as gift cards and twine.
Fox operate a catalogue based fundraising program and sell a variety of wrapping papers and accessories. Their wrapping paper is sourced from Australian suppliers and come in various sizes up to 60m bulk rolls.
Catalogues and forms are distributed to the school community, completed orders are collated and sent back to Fox in the pre-paid envelope. Customers can also order online if they prefer.
Orders are sent back to the school or organisation within 2 to 4 weeks and you are responsible for distribution.
Prices range from $15 for short rolls up to $80 for the bulk rolls.
There are no costs unless you do not make the minimum sales, in which case a $50 postage fee may be charged.
Profits: fundraisers will earn 15% on orders up to $2,500 and 20% above that.
Gift Wrap Club
Gift Wrap Club offer a mix of short and bulk 50m length rolls of paper plus various accessories such as cards, tissue paper, ribbon and craft packs.
Gift Wrap Club operates their fundraisers entirely online, meaning organisations do not need to collect any money. A fundraising pack is sent to the organisation to assist with promotion, but everything else is done online. A nice touch is that when customers are browsing the site, they will see how much of their order goes directly to the fundraiser.
When ordering, customers simply need to select their school or group from the drop-down menu of current fundraisers.
Orders are posted to the school or organisation for distribution.
Prices range from $20 for a mixed pack of four rolls to $60 for the 50m bulk rolls.
Profits: fundraisers will earn 20% on all orders.
The Paper Fundraiser
The Paper Fundraiser offer 25m bulk rolls of paper.
The Paper Fundraiser provide for two types of fundraising options – you can buy a selection of paper to sell ‘on the spot’ which would work well at a stall for a school or community fete or festival. Alternatively, you can take orders from customers, which is then processed as a bulk order and delivered for you to distribute.
All wrapping paper rolls are 25m long and cost $15 each to purchase for the fundraiser plus a $2.50 per roll freight cost (total $17.50). The recommended sale price is $27.50 – leaving a direct profit of $10 per roll.
There are 23 different colours and patterns available, although the patterns are predominantly grown-up and feminine, although a dragon fly pattern, and one with frogs on lily pads could be considered child-friendly.
There is a minimum order of four rolls, and the total order must be in increments of four but they can be a mix of colours/styles. Ordering can be done online or you can print a form out. Samples can be provided upon request. The total order will be sent to the school or group who are responsible for distribution.
Profits: $10 per roll.
